ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Characterisation and application of transducers composed o f electromechan ically active polymer composites can be essentially improved by the electrical modelling of these materials using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method. In this article, the concept of using ionic polymer composites as position sensors is characterised using imped ance spectra. Two different types of ionic polymers-carbon-polymer composite and ionic polymer-metal composite-are considered. Equivalent circuits of these two materials are spec ified. Additionally, a method for describing degradation effects of the materials is discussed.
