ABSTRACT
Standard test procedures for measurement of this property are documented and an example is ASTM C531-81. In this procedure specimens 25mm square ×254mm long are required to be heated in an oven to 22°C, and then to 100°C. At both temperatures the specimens are removed from the oven and measured with a demec gauge. The difference between recorded values allows the coefficient of thermal expansion to be calculated.
