ABSTRACT
A site trial of silane treatment at Cromarty Bridge and laboratory trials on cores extracted from Cromarty and Kessock Bridges have shown that penetration of silane into the concrete is minimal and may be confined to the surface laitance only. However, water absorption tests before and after laboratory silane treatment indicate that very significant reductions of circa 90% can be achieved.
