ABSTRACT
Mr Deon Kruger is a senior lecturer in Civil Engineering at the Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg. He leads the polymer concrete research program at this university and has presented several papers at international conferences on this subject. His current research work includes: polymer concrete precast pipes and other precast products, shrinkage of polymer concrete and the development of special polymer concrete mixes. Mr Derek Penhall is a partner in the consulting practice of Patrick Draper and Associates based in Durban. He is a civil engineer who has specialized in the field of corrosion control and in particular in concrete in aggressive environments. The practice is multidisciplinary having an industrial chemist and a chemical engineer as the other partners and is specifically structured toward industrial maintenance.
