ABSTRACT

Freeze-thaw durability is also improved with the use of a polymer modifier. It was reported at the 5th International Congress on Polymers in concrete held in Brighton (UK) in 1987 that using a 5% SBR addition to form a polymer cement concrete, a total loss of dynamic modulus of elasticity which occurs at an unmodified concrete after about 70 freeze/thaw cycles, is prevented. When using a polyester concrete made with unsaturated resin as binder, no loss in dynamic modulus of elasticity is experienced.
