ABSTRACT

Flexural moments and axial forces are induced in piles by horizontal external forces due to earth pressures, earthquakes, ship mooring, and so on. The resisting flexural moment of a composite pipe which is repaired by the covering method is calculated on the assumption that additional reinforcement is regarded as a pipe of uniform thickness with the same cross sectional area and a parent steel pipe and reinforced concrete are fully composed. The stiffness of the pipe should be neglected at the part where studs are not provided or its thickness is less than 5 mm.
