When the test is semiaccelerated, a partial classification is only obtained. The semiaccelerated test is a slower process in which the specimens may reach an inner equilibrium of humidity with the outside environment and therefore the variations of weight are as a result between the water evaporation and the penetration effect of CO2. However the test help to know simultaneously the permeability of the coatings to water vapour. In the case of accelerated carbonation that is possible after carbonation, with later and specific test aimed to study the permeability to water.
