ABSTRACT
In Chapter 8, the finite element method was described. This is certainly a very versatile method. Unfortunately, its very versatility makes it quite expensive to use. In this chapter, the finite strip method, which has many similarities with the finite element method but perhaps is not as versatile, will be described. It is particularly suited for the analysis of structures with constant cross-section and the end boundary conditions that do not change transversely.
