ABSTRACT

In 1984 the Environment Committee of SERC announced a programme of structural research based on large-and full-scale testing of structures. As part of this overall programme a project to monitor the behaviour, in service, of the Foyle Bridge is being carried out. The work is funded jointly by the Science and Engineering Research Council and the Department of the Environment (NI) Roads Service, and is being run by the Department of Civil Engineering, The Queen’s University of Belfast.
