ABSTRACT
The twenty-eighth volume of this series of Annual Reviews contains seven articles covering a wide range of topics. In recent years the Benguela Ecosystem has been considered in some detail. The present volume sees the start of what it is anticipated will be a series of papers dealing with the Kuroshio in much the same way.
