ABSTRACT
The PAFEC-FE program has been of great assistance as a development tool in research, resulting in the advancement of the finite element method. This is largely due to the modular nature of the program. In effect the various components of the program are compartmentalized and only interact through well-defined procedures. Modularity permits new facilities to be added and existing facilities to be upgraded with relative ease.
