ABSTRACT

Abstract Starting with the Bingham description of fresh cement paste and mortar it is shown how a computer aided consistency control is carried out. The measurement of water content of aggregates is essential for adjusting the basic mix. The consistency in the mixer is estimated by measuring the power consumption of plastic mixes and the water content of the mix for dry mixes. Due to the limited mixing time the final consistency must be estimated after 20 seconds of mixing time. The correction must be made in one single step. Problems and procedures are outlined.
