An interlaboratory test programme on the DBT rapid test to determine the alkali reactivity of aggregates

Abstract The Division of Building Technology's rapid test method for the alkali reactivity of siliceous aggregates takes only 12 days to deliver results in comparison with the ASTM C 227 mortar prism method which takes between 6 and 12 months to give conclusive results with similar types of aggregates. The precision of the method is good and the results obtained in an inter-laboratory test programme indicate that the repeatiblity is good i f the prescribed procedures are strictly adhered to.
