ABSTRACT
Industrial use of Trichoderma reesei began in the 1980s. Trichoderma cellulases were first used in the animal feed industry and in some food applications such as clarifying juices. During the past ten years, the use of cellulolytic enzymes in general, including Trichoderma cellulases, has increased tremendously, the main reason being their increasing use in the textile industry. It can be estimated that cellulases and hemicellulases account for about 20% of the world enzyme market today, and a substantial part of this is Trichoderma enzymes.
