ABSTRACT

Recent developments in GIS show the lack of tools for managing temporal information. The research of the temporal domain in GIS has been intensified during the last 10 years with the growing need for spatialtemporal databases (Egenhofer and Golledge, 1998). Different applications lead to different interpretation of temporal components. The application of spatial-temporal databases on GIS and other disciplines is hindered by the lack of a well-understood ontology of time.
