ABSTRACT

In the general classification of systems in Chapter 1, we defined linear, time invariant and causal systems. Systems with these three properties constitute, by far, the most common models of control objects. There are two reasons for this: (1) many physical objects can be described well by linear, time invariant models, and (2) such models give good possibilities for analysis and systematic control design.
