ABSTRACT
This paper is a preliminary report on a moleculardynamics investigation of viscoplastic deformation in a noncrystalline solid. It is preliminary in the sense that we have completed only the initial stages of our planned simulation project. The results, however, have led us to a theoretical interpretation that we believe is potentially useful as a guide for farther investigations along these lines. In what follows, we describe both the simulations and the theory.
