ABSTRACT
Thescienceofmeteorologyhaslongbeenrecognizedasaseparatediscipline, thoughstudentsofthesubjectusuallycometoitfromarigoroustrainingin physicsormathematics.Thestudyofhydrometeorologyhasevolvedasa specialistbranchofhydrologylinkingthefundamentalknowledgeofthe meteorologistwiththeneedsofthehydrologist.Inthistext,hydrometeorologyistakentobethestudyofprecipitationandevaporation,the twofundamentalphasesinthehydrologicalcyclewhichinvolveprocessesin theatmosphereandattheEarth'ssurface/atmosphereinterface.
