ABSTRACT
Abstract.Inordertoavoidtheseriousdamagetriggeredbythedischargefroma metalparticlewithinaGIS,thefundamentalstudyofthedischargeandthemotion ofametalfilamentaryparticlewasperformed.Whenametalfilamentaryparticle islaidonthelowerelectrode,itshowsseveraldifferentpatternsofmotionwith theincreaseofappliedvoltage;suchasstill-standing,precessionmotion,jumping up-and-down,andsoforth.Thosemotionsdependsonmanydifferentparameters. Theinterestingresultisthatthethresholdvoltageofbouncingmotionislower thanthestandingmotion.Thekeyfactorforthechangeofmotioncouldbe dischargecurrent.
