Thepurposeofthispaperistoinvestigatethetheoreticalnonlinearanalysisofthe stabilityofaliquidjetsubmittedtoanelectricfield.Weuseastraightforwardexpansionfor thesurfacedisturbanceandthevelocitypotentiallikeLafrancedidandwealsousea straightforwardexpansionfortheelectricpotential.OuranalysisdiffersfromthatofLafrance becausewedon'tneglecttheeffectofthesurroundingfluidandbecauseourjetiselectrified.
