Therisksassociatedwithindustrialprocessesmustthereforebeestablished,especiallyif constraints(fmancialorotherwise)limitsafetyprecautions.Modellingcanbeveryhelpfulin assessingriskthoughindispensableistheon-sitemeasurementofelectricalparameterswhich mayberequiredasinputtothemodel(egelectricfieldstrengthorspacechargedensity). Clearly,inordertoassesstheriskofpotentiallyincendiaryelectrostaticdischarges,itis importanttobeabletospecifythespacepotentialandelectricfieldstrengthatpointswithina tankwhichcontainsachargedmist.
