ABSTRACT
LOTUS-EATER In my quest for work and for the right to exist as a free man, I had more than my fair share of difficulties, some self-imposed, others quite artifi cial and arbitrary, created by the prejudices of blinkered individuals, or bureaucracies. Coming to grips with these handicaps and succeeding in adverse circumstances took up a lot of stamina to the detriment of more creative activities.
