ABSTRACT

There is a great need from industry today for a cheap way of monitoring the amount of gases in the exhaust from oil burners in small power plants since legislation's are getting stricter in the near future. Equipment like FTTR instruments used in larger power plants are too expensive for boilers of 0.5 - 5 MW. However, there are other possible solutions to the problem [I] Here we have used a specially built electronic nose, which consists of 12 MISiC sensors, 16 MOS and one linear lambda sensor [2]. Also connected to the electronic nose data acquisition program, are several reference instruments, measuring CO, C02, NO, 0 2 and HC, and three parameters from the boiler regulation system; speed of fuel, combustion temperature and the temperature of the outgoing hot-water.
