ABSTRACT
In addition to the Access Grid the basic Grid environment also offers a number of additional benefits which may of use in remote microscopy. In this regard it provides a well defined set of security protocols, contains provision for multiple user conferencing and enables users to seamlessly access other grid based resources e.g. for high performance adaptive video compression, real time image processing etc.
