ABSTRACT

A kaolinitic clay was provided from a local tile producer. Natural zeolite was obtained from the Gordes region of Bahkesir/Turkey . The details regarding to the preparation of the uncontaminated (UCLM) and contaminated (CLM) kaolinite/zeolite mixtures are given previously. [5] The mineral compositions of the asreceived raw materials were established by using XRD (Rigaku, Rint 2200, Japan). The representative samples were firstly dried at 1 05°C, then a Cam Scan S4 analytical SEM was employed to investigate their fracture surfaces under different magnifications in secondary electron (SE) imaging mode . Prior to SEM investigation, the samples were sputtered with gold-palladium for long enough to prevent charging.
