ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Investigations of conversion processes of organic compounds under the action of UV radiation sources acquire the increasing significance [1-2]. In particular, it may be of interest to apply such sources as excilamps for investigations of methane conversion kinetics. A non-coherent narrow-band radiation of an excilamp operating in vacuum UV range allows to achieve a selective energy transfer into electronic states of certain molecules to stimulate chemical reactions, which can not be realized by other techniques, e.g. in conditions of non thermal plasmas. In the present paper numerical calculations of decomposition processes of methane and water molecules in CH4-H20 mixture under the action of UV-radiation of Xe-excilamp (k-172 nm) has been performed.
