ABSTRACT

Abstract We present an all-solid-state picosecond pulse laser as a potential driver for X-ray lasers. The passively mode-locked laser is built by using a semiconductor absorber mirror, which also acts as an output coupler at the same time. The reached shortest pulse width is about 2.3 picosecond, corresponding to a single pulse energy of 4.3 nJ and a peak power of 1.8 kW. Average mode-locked power of 1.7 W is generated at 9 W pump power.
