ABSTRACT

In the present experiment, 400-ps prepulse and 4.8-ps main pulse with separation of 500 ps was chosen for pumping the XRL. The energy ratio of the prepulse to the main pulse was manipulated to be 1:8 by means of the first beam splitter. A 4-mm length and 20-|im width line focus was made by an off-axis parabolic mirror and a spherical mirror. A quasi-travelling wave using 6-step mirror was employed in order to compensate the short gain duration in the plasma medium [2]. The travelling wave velocity was 1.03c measured using an optical streak camera, where c represents the light speed [6]. It is noted that the minimum pulse duration to be measured is determined by means of reflection from each block in the line focus, i.e. 4.0 ps (1.2 mm)..
