ABSTRACT

Abstract. Theoretical work on the diamagnetic shift in the quantum wire as a function of magnetic field using the simple model study is reported. Fitting the experimental data to the analytic expression of diamagnetic shift, we obtain the relevant parameters. Oscillating Zeeman splitting for excitons is explained in terms of the magnetization induced by the orbital motion (Landau levels) in the presence of magnetic field. With increasing magnetic field the fine structure develops in the diamagnetic shift. The abrupt change in slope of excitonic diamagnetic shift can be further explained by the heavy hole-light hole mixing at high magnetic field.
