ABSTRACT
In Chapter 8 the principles of structural dynamics were introduced with emphasis placed on the response of single degree of freedom systems to forcing functions that represented idealised blast loading histories. In this chapter these ideas will be developed towards assessment of the response of specific structural elements and then to convert these flexing, distributed mass structures back to single degree of freedom lumped mass 'equivalent' systems.
