ABSTRACT

In the twenty years since computers began to talk, in their “synthesized, metallic voice,” which no one would mistake for a human voice, the past five years have seen great advancement. The distinction between the computer voice and the “real thing” is difficult to distinguish. However, the greatest challenge is not from text to voice, but from voice to concept and expression.
