ABSTRACT

As technology evolves, more devices offer increased capacity across formats, media, and capabilities. As Roger Wyatt’s Technology Quintet model illustrates, video, audio, computers, mass storage, and telecommunications (the five technologies of the quintet) interact toward virtually complete convergence. In this model each member of the quintet can be viewed as a circle whose boundaries are not crisp or static. Their fluidity can be traced as time progresses, where each circle converges to complete or near-complete overlap.
