ABSTRACT
Although the results of this study are preliminary, and must be replicated, the findings give rise to numerous new questions: • Is the amount of time spent building or maintaining situation awareness stable, or will it change as operators gain experience?• Will cognitive augmentation shorten the time operators spend gaining situation awareness?• W hat perceptual cues are critical for gaining situation awareness in technical search operations?• Will shared mental models of the robot, the environment, and the search task improve operator performance in search operations?
