ABSTRACT

The recent advent of combinatorial chemistry has created considerable excitement in the scientific and business communities. In its various forms, it facilitates the rapid generation of large numbers of new and novel compounds which will significantly add to the pool of existing molecules currently found in proprietary chemical collections. These collections of new compounds will assist not only in lead generation, but also serve as tools to optimize the desirable characteristics of an existing lead. Such utilization of combinatorial libraries is expected to significantly decrease the overall time required for drug development.
