ABSTRACT

The rupture of thin liquid films between liquids, gases, and solids plays a govern ing role in determining the stability of bubbles and droplets in foams, emulsions, froths, and even biological cells [1-5]. The behavior of liquid films on solids is particularly relevant to many processes such as detergency and froth flotation of minerals. In some of these processes such as froth flotation, the film rupture may not involve a complete removal of the liquid on the solid.
