ABSTRACT

The application of polymers in fields dominated by traditional materials (silicates, metals) affects our everyday lives and offers a new field of research activity. The polymers substituting such classical materials are denoted as constructional-engi neering plastics. They must possess sufficiently high moduli, strength, toughness, and a good resistance to heat. What is valued in these materials is their low den sity, resistance against wear, and, last but not least, relatively simple production, processing, and assembly.
