ABSTRACT
We have studied how motions and forces are generated by the various mechanisms in a product. In some cases, like the aerodynamic forces in Chapter 5, sound is generated directly by the forces, even if no structural vibration results. We have also discussed how the mechanisms produce vibrations in the structure, and these vibrations also radiate sound, quantified by a parameter called the radiation efficiency of the structure. Designing the structure for Sound Quality is, in part, designing the structure to have the “right” radiation efficiency.
