ABSTRACT
Disintegration and dissolution are crucial properties of tablets. To this end, disintegrants are added to tablet formulations (and at times to hard-shell capsule formulas as well). There is often a direct correlation between disintegration times and dissolution rate constants (Carstensen et aI., 1978, 1980a,b,c, 1995).
