ABSTRACT

The primary purpose of using herbicides on range, forest, and noncrop lands is to control undesirable woody and herbaceous weeds, to increase desirable plants, and to maintain or improve plant and animal diversity without harm to the environment. Soil water and watershed yields are sometimes also increased with weed and brush control, and as stated before, one added benefit of woody plant control is the simultaneous control of many undesirable herbaceous weeds. Many forest lands are grazed by livestock and wildlife, and forage and browse plants can be provided with minimum effect on tree growth and production.
