ABSTRACT

Elimination methods solve a system of linear algebraic equations by solving one equation, say the first equation, for one of the unknowns, say X I' in terms of the remaining unknowns, X2 to Xn' then substituting the expression for xI into the remaining n - I equations to determine n - I equations involving X2 to Xn-This elimination procedure is performed n - I times until the last step yields an equation involving only xn-This process is called elimination.
