ABSTRACT

In view of these features of the MacConnack method, it is a very popular method for solving PDEs.

In summary, the MacConnack approximation of the convection equation is explicit, two step (i.e., predictor-corrector), 0(M2) + 0(,h2), conditionally stable, and convergent. The method is identical to the Lax-Wendroff one-step method for the linear convection equation. However, for nonlinear equations, systems of equations, and two-and threedimensional physical spaces, the MacConnack method is much more efficient than the Lax-Wendroff one-step method.
