ABSTRACT
The convergence rate of the secant method was analyzed by Jeeves (1958), who showed that
[ I fll«()()] 0.62 ..
Convergence occurs at the rate 1.62 ... , which is considerably faster than the linear convergence rate of the fixed-point iteration method but somewhat slower than the quadratic convergence rate of Newton's method.
