ABSTRACT

Supported transition metal (TM) catalysts modified with rare-earth elements (REE) were synthesized. Oxygen chemisorption, high temperature oxidation and static magnetic measurements were applied to characterize the catalysts. Catalytic activities of these systems were studied in CO,. hydrogenation, CO oxidation, and NH3 synthesis from H2 and N2• A physical model describing the promotion activity of REE on TM via the dipole magnetic interaction and the resulting increase in the probability of a catalytic act is suggested.
