ABSTRACT
Treatment of aldehydes or imines with sulfur ylides, generated by the reaction of Simmons-Smith carbenoids with sulfides, provides tenninal epoxides and tenninal aziridines respectively, in high yields. Using chiral sulfides epoxides are obtained with enantioselectivities of up to 54%.
