ABSTRACT
Design of experiments(DoE) allows the experimenter to collect, organize, and analyze data efficiently, and to use them along with good engineering judgment to draw effective conclusions. DoE is a dynamic force which can be used over a wide range of functions to transform an organization, and it is accessible to everyone. DoE is one of the tools used to improve quality and productivity, along with other tools such as statistical process control, and Pareto diagrams, quality function deployment. Technical and nontechnical personnel can use DoE terms as a kind of shorthand to discuss factors, levels, and responses being evaluated as part of a design, process, or problem-solving project. The DoE organization must not be shy about using DoE in almost any situation, or to solve almost any problem. Of course, there are situations in which some other approach is more useful, and the DoE organization must be able to understand its limiations as well.
