ABSTRACT
The life of concrete can be prolonged by providing a coating which will be resis tant to the pollutants present. These coatings are referred to as monolithic surfacings. Before selecting an appropriate coating, consideration must be given to the condition of the concrete and the environment to which the concrete will be exposed. Proper surface preparation is essential. Surface preparations can be dif ferent for freshly placed concrete than for old concrete.
