ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION Routine clinical laboratories focus their attention on those methods that are used very often in patient care. These methods usually have to be rugged enough to give a high degree of precision in the hands of different technicians with rapid results. On the other hand, the focus in research laboratories is on the development of new knowledge, irrespective of amount of time, difficulty, or cost involved. The role of separation science and how it has been utilized in our routine work over a span of three decades to facilitate patient care, and to enhance the image of our laboratory is discussed.
