ABSTRACT

The twentieth century has seen the largest quantum leap in the development of science in human history. We have gained considerable knowledge to aid us in understanding life, nature, and beyond. All of the achievements have been due, in part, to the development of analytical technologies. These technologies provided fundamental information about the nature and the quantity essential to understand substance's functionality. The ability to rapidly investigate the nature and state of a substance opens the door to today's quality control, environmental studies, clinical diagnostic laboratories, as well as genomics and proteomics.
