ABSTRACT

This chapter is designed to evaluate rural women's socioeconomic development in Thailand as it relates to their integration into wage labor, to the gross domestic product (GDP), 1 and to changes in state policies toward women's development. Special attention is paid to shifts in GDP and social policies for rural women's economic development in Thailand , as both have had a tremendous impact on rural Thai women's socioeconomic development (McMichael, 1996; Ames and Ames, .2002).
