ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION Several bibliographic software packages are available to aid serious research. Bibliographic software can save the researcher enormous amounts of time and is strongly recommended for doctoral dissertation writing. Better bibliographic software is closely integrated with digital literature search resources discussed in the previous chapter. Online bibliographic databases and online libraries, such as the Library of Congress, can be searched from within bibliographic software. The citations found (the "hits") can be archived automatically in the database function of such software, to be used later to "cite while you write" in your word processor and to create reference lists automatically in any standard citation format, at the click of a button.
